The FC Blades G00 team came within an inch of claiming the AUSC Soccerfest title. The Blades’ weekend started with a narrow 2-1 victory over Chelsea Black. In the afternoon heat they faced off with Arsenal and narrowly lost 1-0. However, their place in the Semi-final had be assured and Sunday morning the girls refreshed tore into FC Barcelona triumphing 6-1 for a place in the final. The girls again met Arsenal and after an enthralling match played in 95 degrees the two teams could not be separated, two halves of OT ensued and again they could not be separated. A penalty shoot out was needed and after a positive start Blades lost 4-3. Nonetheless to coach Andy Winn the girls were champions.

To play with such heart, quality and team spirit in extreme conditions is not easy and the girls did that, I am super proud of all my players for their efforts. Goalkeeper Jackie was in inspired form, massive defensive efforts came from Kerenna, Jaelyn, Michelle and Aliyah. Midfield creativity and industry from Lauren S, Lauren F, Natalie and Aya. Bright attacking play came from Clarissa and Laure D…….

The AUSC Soccerfest schedule is now out. It may change a bit before the weekend.

We have 2 games on Saturday. First is at 9:10 am and the second is at 3:25 pm.

We are the home team for both games, however, let’s wear white so that the girls stay a bit cooler. Bring Red jersey. White socks on Sat.

CSL Brackets are up.

CSL has chosen not to do a Silver Bracket for GU9 this year. So all GU9 teams are at the Bronze level.

See below the bracket we are in. For some odd reason, we are not in the same bracket as the other Irvine clubs’ primary teams. So it seems like they took the opportunity to spread around the talent and put higher seeded teams along with not so good teams, rather than bunching all the primary teams of a local area together and having them knock each other out. Oh well, we have our work cut out for us…

- Andy has decided to skip the Wolfpack tourney on July 11-12 and instead do the Fullerton Classic on July 18-19th.

- Andy is pulling together a friendly scrimmage for this Saturday June 20th at 10:15. Location TBD.
